Civil Engineering Department

Welcome to the department of civil engineering, it is an honour for me to welcome the young minds of the era to this prestigious institute. Civil Engineering is one of the broadest and oldest of all the engineering disciplines. Civil engineering deals with design and construction of the things that we need to function efficiently as a society. A civil engineer requires not only a high standard of engineering knowledge but also supervisory and administrative skills The Civil Engineering Department is a part of the institute since its inception. The Department has grown over the years with qualified teaching faculty members who are passionate to impart quality education. . The infrastructure available in the department facilitates students to develop their skill and knowledge within the framework of curriculum prescribed by The A P J Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. The department is actively involved in basic and applied research and consultancy services. The department is providing quality technical and advisory support through consultancy to various private construction agencies, State Government, Central Government projects. Apart from academic knowledge, we also, train our students to face the challenges in their profession by providing value added courses like Communication and Presentation skills, building of Team Sprit through field study, etc. The department invites eminent personnel from industry and academia to deliver technical talks on emerging areas .The department also, provides an opportunity to learn softwares like AUTOCAD, REVIT ARCHITECTURE, STAD- PRO, ETAB, MS-PROJECT etc. to make our students more digitalized. The students here are also encouraged to engage extra-curricular and co-curricular activities which are essential for personality development, nurturing of team spirit and development of organizational skills. 1. FRESHERS DAY
CORE hosted a Freshers Day event "Puthiya Mugham".The event was conducted through online mode on 19th May 2021.

2. Civil Engineering Association CORE has conducted an inter college technical fest “CIVICTURE”. The fest was launched on 29th May 2021. The programme was conducted on an online platform. A series of events were conducted as part of the programme.

  In association with the fest an inter college treasure hunt is organised by CORE through online on Instagram on June 2021

  A technical quiz competition focused on freshening up participants' minds.

  In association with the fest an in college pes tournament is conducted on June 2021
• TROLL COMPETITION
  In association with CIVICTURE troll competition is conducted on June 2021
• WORKSHOP
  Core Civil Engineering association of College of engineering Muttathara in association with Autodesk ATC officially launched registration of 3 Days Online Workshop on Architectural Visualisation And 3D Modelling (Using 3Ds Max Design) as a part of " CIVICTURE "
• TALENT HUNT
  In association with the fest a talent competition is conducted via online mode from 3rd to 9th June 2021. The event focused on drawing, painting, music,dance and any other art forms.

1. DOUBLES TOURNAMENT
CEM's first badminton tournament conducted in Battledoor indoor court on 12th February 2022.

2. WORKSHOP
Four day intercollege workshop on field training on surveying and mapping using total station was conducted for civil engineering students from June 15th to 18th,2022. The hands-on workshop lit up the surveying and planning skills of students.

1. Expert talk on "Vizhinjam Seaport project" by Dr. Jayakumar , CEO & MD of Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd.

2. Webinar on "Opportunities after B.Tech" by Mr. Rajesh Sasidhar{HR and admin Manager CGP Carrier Avenues}

3. While Covid crisis forced everyone to take a pause, CORE kept moving forward by conducting a webinar series of 7 days starting from August 7, 2020-August 15, 2020 on various topics.

• Webinar on the topic ‘Job seeking and opportunities in middle east’ by the resource person Shamsher T, Production manager, Royal excellent steel and cement industry, UAE, conducted on 7th August 2020.
• Webinar about "The journey from B.Tech to PhD" by Shreya MV, PhD scholar from NIT Surathkal on 10th August 2020
• Webinar by Dipu Sugumaran, Application development advisor, Cigna-healthspring USA, delivered a talk on the topic from Civil Engineer to software engineer and opportunities in abroad on 11th August 2020.
• Webinar by Laya, Assistant professor of CAPE, on the topic opportunities for higher education in the US and Germany on 12th August 2020.
• Webinar on "Future studies in UK" by Mithun Madhusudhanan, freelance civil engineer TT Consulting UK held on 13th August 2020.
• Webinar by Krishna Prasad V, the principal engineer or managing partner, Sifcons Engineering solutions Kasargod, on the topic "Job seeking from B.Tech graduate to entrepreneur on 14thAugust 2020.
• Webinar on "Preparation for job seeking" by Ajesh Kumar P T specialist CSS corporate Pvt on 15th August 2020.

4. Core department of civil engineering in Association with Autodesk ATC and CAD centre organised a 3 day workshop in Revit architecture for participants. The workshop was conducted on 20, 21st and 22nd of August 2020 with the participation of around 50+ students.

7. Training session on "Building Information Modelling" provided to the students of civil engineering department in association with CAD Centre, on 31st May 2022.

8. Four day intercollege workshop on "Field training on surveying and mapping using total station" conducted for civil engineering students is associated with CILL Associate, from June 15th to 18th 2022.
